Happiness

"Happiness is . . . ."
I've created this lovely framed piece to give as
an engagement or wedding gift:
The artwork is 4"x5 1/2" matted to 5"x7" and is in a 1"deep shadow box frame for an overall size of 6 3/4"x8 1/2"
Sorry about the glare on the glass, here is a picture of it out of the frame so you can see it better.
The vintage dictionary paper has the definitions of "betroth, betrothal, betrothed".
An angled shot to show the dimension:
Papers and tag are by 7 Gypsies from the "Savannah" line, bird cage is a Spellbinders die, pearls by Prima, floral cabochon by Making Memories, and birds cut from a Hallmark card, gold ink is a gel pen by American Crafts, ribbon is unknown, embossing folder by Cuttlebug, artisan shape die by Spellbinders, and ink by Tim Holtz.
I hope you will join us in the fun at Frosted Designs, create a card, layout, or off the page project with the theme "happiness is...." and link it up with us! There's a prize to be won!

Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop!

Welcome to my stop on the Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop!
If you came from Brenda's Blog, you are in the right place.
If you'd like to start at the beginning, click here.

This blog hop is a fall themed recipe hop.
There are 12 stops on the hop and each one will reveal a recipe ingredient. After you've hopped all the way through and know what the 12 ingredients are, pick at least 6 ingredients, make a fall themed layout, card, or off the page project and link it up at Frosted Designs.
I've used 7 of the 12 ingredients on my layout
but I'm only going to tell you what mine is!
My ingredient is a die cut.
On my layout the two flourishes were made with the Elegant Scrollwork die by Memory Box. After I die cut them I used a Versamark pen on them and then embossed with Whispers Clear Gloss Embossing Powder (which creates a shininess not picked up by the camera).
I used this awesome sketch by Jenny Evans and am entering my layout in the sketch challenge at Boys Rule.
The patterned paper is from the Everyday Tango line by My Minds Eye. Stamping with Tim Holtz Distress Ink adds some additional layers to the patterned papers.  The pumpkins are a digital stamp by Jane's Doodles which I added dimension to by embossing the black lines and then pop-dotting them onto the page. The word "sweet" is Pink Paisley stickers, "family" is Basic Grey Milk Chocolate Chipboard. The lace border is paper ribbon from the Curio line by Basic Grey. The leaf trim was in my stash so I don't know the manufacturer.
The adorable family in the photo is my daughter Sandy with her husband Joel and their daughter Quinn enjoying some fall fun.

Thank you for hopping by, your next stop on the hop is
I hope you are inspired to join the fun and make a project to post at Frosted Designs. There will be random drawings for some fabulous prizes for those sharing a project with us using at least 6 of the 12 ingredients on a fall themed project!

November 2012 366 project

WOW November already!
Bigger WOW - my calendar page is ready!
If you are unfamiliar with the 2012 366 art journal/calendar project, please click HERE for the full explanation.
I realize I used leaves (in a darn cute pile) for my October calendar and here I am using leaves again for November. Many of you know we've just been through Hurricane Sandy here on the East Coast and I wanted to recognize that in my calendar so my November page has a huge swirl of leaves to commemorate the winds that blew at 60-80 mph!
My background paper is from the Everyday Tango line by My Minds Eye, the leaves are hand cut from scraps in my stash, the rub-ons are by Karen Foster Design, flourish by Memory Box.
The scrapbook side of my November spread will be posted on November 9th as part of the Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop.
Please visit Kate's Blog to see how she and others have interpreted this challenge. Click on the "2012 366 project" tab above to see my other pages.

Frosted Designs Sketch Challenge

This week at Frosted Designs we are featuring a sketch for the Fabulous Friday Challenge.
The beautiful paper used for my base came with the floral border up the left side so I turned the sketch to accommodate it. In doing so I was able to put the title on the artisan shape paper and use it as a pull out for the hidden journaling!
Our grandson is 2 1/2 years old and just adores his Papa, he wants to help Papa with everything he does - so cute! (I'm pretty sure the adoration goes both ways!)

The paper and embellishments are from the Flower Child line by BoBunny. The title letters are Basic Grey and all ink is Tim Holtz Distress.
I hope you'll join in the fun and make a layout, card, or off the page project using this sketch.
Link it up at Frosted Designs for the chance to win an awesome prize or be chosen as a top three!
Thanks for stopping by my blog,
I appreciate your comments!
