Altered Brush

Greetings!
The latest challenge at eclectic Paperie
is to alter a paint brush.
I covered the handle with Tim Holtz Tissue Tape, applied gesso, then Faber Castell India Ink to the metal part, then a couple of layers of lace. The three wooden flowers are attached together and are made by Darice. I think you are supposed to make a necklace with them. I stamped my favorite Unity Stamp Co - She Script stamp on them with Archival ink in Coffee, sprinkled Ranger clear embossing powder on the wet ink and heat embossed then topped them with crocheted flowers from my stash. The leaves are made with The Crafters Workshop Falling Foliage stencil. I applied Studio 490 white embossing paste through the stencil on to manilla cardstock then colored with Faber Castell India Ink and Silks Acrylic Glaze and finished off the tops with Inkssentials Crackle Accents. The bird is wood made by ArtMinds for Michaels. It is colored with Silks Acrylic Glaze. I trimmed the brush bristles to give the bird a place to rest. I added some feathers from a walk at the local duck pond, and there you have it!
Last year I altered a paint brush for a project Donna Downey was putting together for her studio. Here is a look at that one, if you like you can see more details and close ups at this link.
I hope you are inspired to get creative! Pull out any old brush and see what you can come up with! Link it up here at eclectic Paperie and you'll be entered to win a gift certificate to the awesome eclectic Paperie online store!
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
I appreciate your comments!

Both brushes are wonderful and so different from each other which really shows your creativity. I love the tissue tape on the handle, the beautiful flowers and leaves and that vibrant bird. He's a great shot of colour on this neutral coloured brush. The feathers are an inspired touch.

oh I love that vintage look. I instantly was imagining the roaring 20's. Love the feather and the crochet flowers. That bird adds just the right touch of color. Gorgeous.
